The 'mochila milano by Silvia Ferrari' brand was born from my great love for artisanal labor. After working for a multinational company for almost 10 years as a luxury accessories buyer in Milan, I started attending a loom weaving course in Florence that led me to the discovery of these wonderful bags called 'mochila bags'. From the beginning, I have never wanted only to sell them, but tell their story and for this reason I left and stayed in Colombia for two months, to get to know the country as much as possible and the community that create them.
These bags are mainly made by women belonging to an indigenous tribe called Wayúu. The technique has been handed down from the mothers to their daughters for years so that everyone can support their community that lives in a very arid territory located between Colombia and Venezuela. Spending time with them, speaking with them, I learned a lot about mochila bags, a cultural exchange and an incredible personal experience that led to the creation of my first collection. Research, color, quality. My products are characterized by these characteristics and by Italian taste.
Each bag is a unique piece, a real treasure to be kept for a long time.
Over time I have expanded the collection to be able to propose many models and sizes and I have added new products, such as the summer hats, made by the same community weaving a palm that is called Iraca. They will surprise you with their lightness and joy. The pompon decorations are also entirely handmade.
In the next few months you will have the opportunity to discover the complete collection, consisting of mochila bags, different types of hats and many accessories for your home, like runner and blankets, so keep on following me and...
